Do you care about your community’s health and wellbeing? Do you enjoy having onversations and sharing useful information with others?

Waltham Forest Community Health Champions
Waltham Forest Council is looking for friendly, approachable people who live or work in the borough to join as Community Health Champions, to make a positive difference by helping others find the right health support when they need it most.
What does a Community Health Champion do?
You’ll help deliver key health messages to your communities, helping them to access health and wellbeing resources. You’ll connect with people in familiar and safe spaces and share accurate health updates, on topics including, Mental Health, Immunisations and Healthy Weight and signpost people to trusted support services. The people you speak with could be friends, family, colleagues, clients or customers. You do not need to be a health expert.
Training and support provided:
All Champions receive ongoing training to help you feel confident and well-informed, including:
MECC (Making Every Contact Count) – Essential training on how to use everyday
conversations to help people improve their health.
Mental Health
Healthy Weight
Stopping Smoking
Drugs and Alcohol
Sexual Health
You’ll also have the opportunity to:
Share feedback on your community’s health concerns at monthly Network meetings, hosted
online and in-person
Attend community health events (if available)
Be part of a supportive network of like-minded volunteers
Apply for an exciting funding opportunity launching in June, led by WF Giving
Whether you're a parent, a student, retired, or an existing volunteer who’s passionate about helping others, you can be a Champion in your community.

We’re also inviting community organisations, charities, and local groups to get involved. If your staff or volunteers are passionate about supporting others, we can deliver training in-house. This is a great opportunity to upskill your team and strengthen your role in supporting local health and wellbeing.
