Earlier this year, Simon and I were pleased to contribute to a feature by Living Streets, highlighting the impact of walking for wellbeing in Waltham Forest.
At its heart, this project shows how something as simple as walking can create deep and lasting change. It’s not just about exercise it’s about connection, confidence, and community.
As I shared in the piece:
“Walking has helped people build confidence, explore new places and make new connections – not just with each other but with the area too. We’ve seen people who felt isolated begin to feel part of something.”
Through group walks, local trails, and conversations on the move, we’ve seen people grow their networks, improve their wellbeing, and develop a stronger sense of place.
This work is a powerful reminder that positive change often starts with putting one foot in front of the other.
