We’re looking for people who have experience of mental health issues to become Time to Talk champions. Our champions will be supported and funded to use their experience to change the way people think and act about mental health. They’ll play an important role in making a real difference in their community.
A powerful way to challenge mental health stigma is by someone who has experience of mental health issues telling their own story. It helps to end shame and isolation around mental health.
We want you to feel confident to hold meaningful conversations with people who haven’t had this experience. This will help challenge their misconceptions and negative stereotypes around mental health.
To help you do this, you’ll receive training, plus ongoing support from the local champions’ network and hub coordinator.
As a champion, you can contribute as much, or as little, time as you wish.
The funding must be used to spark conversations between people who have experienced mental health issues and those who have not.
To apply for funding, applicants must:
-
be a registered Waltham Forest Time to Talk champion (Contact Chris to register)
-
be at least 18 years old
-
have lived experience of a mental health issue (includes carers, friends, and relatives)
-
